Barane Jamrog Long Lorenz Pawloski Polski Sawicki Silvers

Code: S= Son. M = Mother. G=Grandparent. "Great-" is denoted by addition of number. G1=Great-grandparent

== The leaves (| | | |) in green denote Jeff's direct line.

== According to our research, the origin of the name "Barane" is Irish and the Coat of Arms contains “Silver with a red cross on which there are five bezants.”
The Crest is “A blue boar.” The family motto is “Alter ipse amicus.”

== Spelling variations include: Barron, Baron, Barone, Barrone, and others. It was first found in Waterford. Originally the Barrons were granted lands by Strongbow in Kilkenny and were known as the Barrons of Burnchurch being descended from the FitzGeralds who also accompanied Strongbow into Ireland.

== Rev. Carrigan in his "History" published in 1905 describes the FitzGeralds of Burnchurch on pages 378-381 of Volume III:
"The Fitzgeralds, otherwise Barons, otherwise FitzMaurices, of Burnchurch, were descended from Maurice fitz Maurice, whose father, most probably, was Maurice fitz Gerald, one of the first of the Anglo-Norman invaders in Ireland, and ancestor of the different families of the Fitzgeralds in this country. Maurice fitz Maurice was lord of Kiltranyn or Burnchurch, in the time of Bishop Hugh de Rous, when he appropriated Burnchurch parish to the Priory of Kells (in Ossory)."

Burnchurch Castle, the seat of the Fitzgerald, or Baron, family, is still in good preservation.

== Thomas Jamrog was born in Lwow, Galicia (Galizien), a part of Poland which became an Austrian crown land during the partition, on March 1, 1860. He came to America with his parents when he was 13 years of age. The family came with a group of other Polish immigrants and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The railroad company's advertising campaign and the inducement of homesteads in Nebraska convinced them to move west. Thomas Jamrog's parents filed for a land grant and Thomas earned a living by working for the Union Pacific Railroad surveying the proposed line from Grand Island to Ord and later the short line from Pocatello, Idaho to Salt Lake City. By the time he was 24, he chose Martha Zaworski to be his bride, but her parents had other ideas. They had made arrangements with another family for a spouse for Martha and finalized plans for a wedding. On the day of the wedding, Martha hid so well that the ceremony had to be cancelled. A few days later, Thomas and Martha were married in a double wedding ceremony, along with Thomas' sister and John Sawicki. Thomas and Martha came to live in Ashton. He used his savings from working on the railroad to start a hardware store. Realizing that the farmers coming to the area would need a constant supply of implements and supplies, his business prospered. His first shipments came by wagon, but by 1887, when the railroad came through, he was able to expand his business. He conceived the idea of buying large quantities at a time in order to get more advantageous prices. He bought merhcandise in carload lots and was able to undercut his competitors. In the 1880's, "a man was as good as his word" so Thomas was able to extend credit to all and sundry and collect payment. Thomas also had an ice house and tavern. He was mayor of Ashton for 20 years and a member of the school board for the public school. He was instrumental in the building of St. Francis church and school.

Note: Galicia is now part of the Ukraine. In Thomas' day it was often referred to as "Austrian Poland", in that most of the citizens were of Polish ancestry, but had been conquered by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. They did speak Polish.

== Thomas was not born a Jamrog. On his death certificate his father is "Mike Barane." Thomas was sometimes referred to as "Baron" Jamrog, perhaps a nickname to acknowledge his birth parent. Grandma Heloise (Lorenz) Pawloski recalls that Thomas told her his father died when he was an infant, and that he was raised with the surname of his mother's second husband, Martin Simon Jamrog. Thomas had two half-siblings from the jamrog marriage. We list them below.
Michael never made it out of Austria with Anna. Martin died shortly after coming here with her.

== Anna's surname has also been spelled as "Vresewski." Her father's name is spelled "Michial Vaslaski (b.Austria)" and her mother is listed as "Terrese Modleskowski (b.Austria)" on her marriage license (Apr. 1891) to third husband (married Feb. 05, 1884 New Pozen, Howard Co., NE) Loranze Washelewski (Wasielewski).
